Pediatric
Clinical Research Scholar Award in Washington DC
The
Children's National Medical Center (CNMC) at the George Washington
University and The Departments of Pediatrics at Georgetown
University (GU) and Howard University Hospital (HUH) are soliciting
applications for their combined Pediatric Clinical Research
Scholars Program (PCRSP) in Washington DC, funded by the National
Center for Research Resources (NCRR) at the National Institutes
of Health, US Department of Health and Human Services.
The
program provides junior faculty (MD, DO, DDS or DMD, US citizen
or national or permanent resident) that are within the first
5 years of their academic appointments with salary support
for 75%-90% time to be devoted to patient-oriented research
experience and training under the guidance of a senior faculty
member (Lead Mentor) and other program faculty. Supplemental
funds for research and training costs are also provided. Research
must be conducted using the resources of at least one of the
participating institutions' General Clinical Research Centers.
An award is renewable annually up to a period of 3 years,
after which the applicant is expected to have independent
external funding. Three awards will be given for the 2003-2004
academic year, one for each of the three institutions, and
funding would start 8/01/03.
